Treasure Find!!!!!!!!

So, last night I was doing the whole treadmill torture thing, when what should I come across on Craigslist?!
An old sewing box!
I immediately stopped torturing myself and made the call. Tonight it and all it's wonders are mine!

Inside was a trove of amazing goodies...

We dated this jar to a 1938 ad in a South Carolina newspaper.

A couple door to door insurance salesman needle books...1930's.

Buttons for 15 cents,

Paper tapes,

Patches from an old Ohio market "Buckeye Tempo",

Old singer needles,

more paper tapes,

pockets,

old thread,

4 yrds for 10 cents!

This stuff is sweet!

more old patches,

and a bunch of thread!

A great find for 35 bucks!

Sorry about some of the blurry pics, it is late and I am shaking with laughter as Hubby googles this stuff and we read the ads for the products and companies.

Just a few pics of my projects while getting used to my new laptop.

This basket is now overflowing with close to 30 tissue covers.

(The pockets are charm squares of Summer Breeze II)

Bento Bag for my daughter's bento boxes.

Plus a couple loaves of banana bread!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Mail Love!

A couple weeks ago around the same time as my laptop dying, I had a fabulous mail day! I had entered a giveaway from koolbeenz and won. This is what arrived! It made my day and now I can finally share it.

It is a charm pack of Summer Breeze II! I have already dipped into it and will post that project later.

When you have a chance, pop over and give koolbeenz some LOVE!

New!

After trying for a week to get my dinosaur laptop to do something productive, Hubby decided I was getting a new one. In 4 days I have received new glasses and a new laptop. I feel spoiled...LOL! As soon as this thing gets completely set up with it's updates and my learning how to use such new fangled tech terms, I will upload all the pics the old one stopped me in my tracks from doing. I am wishing everyone a great Monday! Now, back to reading my manual...LOL.

A Quick Scarf

My daughter found this scarf and fell in love. At $1,100, her paychecks would get her to it in about 2 months, if she never spent a dime...LOL. She appealed to me for help in finding an alternative. We came up with this. It cost her 15 dollars in supplies and a fancy latte for my labor.

Dish Mat

I saw this dish mat post awhile ago and haven't been able to get it out of my mind. So, with the skirt finished, I whipped this up last night.

Measure. Cut.

Iron.

Iron some more.

Center.

Topstich.

Enjoy.

I know the lighting is crazy. One of my goals this year is to stop using my cell phone for a camera!

JoAnn's Trip

We had gift cards burning holes in our pockets, so off to JoAnn's.

I want to learn to knit...(with a few fat quarters thrown in, of course)

and I want a new lined skirt for winter.

My daughter found this track jacket on clearance and found iron-ons she liked for it. She loves this key fabric and I am teaching her to never leave without at least one fat quarter.

This is what I have been doing since we got home. I am totally enjoying myself and planning projects for snowy days that I know are coming.

I love field trips!
Happy Weekend Everyone!

Cold Hands No More

I found a box of old sweaters in the back of the closet.

One sweater became wrist and ear warmers.

I have 6 more to play with over the next few days. I think I may have a couple pillows to recover for the winter season.

Update - I got another pair made, but then I got distracted and did some rice bags...LOL!

Welcome to New Year, New Construction

Over the next week, I will be doing some construction on my blog. I am adding pages for some projects that I am beginning. I decided to add to this blog because these new pieces of my life are intertwined with the posts from the last year. I am excited and a little nervous about the path I have planted my feet upon for the second half of my life. I learned much about myself in 2011, including the facts that I really enjoy being creative in the sewing room, the kitchen, the garden and flower beds. I want to expand these creative processes. I will be reaching for new experiences in 2012.

I want to thank my followers and the all the other people out there in blogland for stopping by and leaving a piece of themselves, I cherish every comment.

Happy New Year and may the creative juices overflow in our little pieces of the world!

Happy New Year!

Best wishes to everyone in the coming year!

This is one of the goals presented to us by our daughter...LOL!

She has decided this is the fastest way to save for a full size piano.
We are going to work on proving her wrong!

Happy New Year!
